Bowshot assumes command of 70th FTS

JOINT-BASE SAN ANTONIO-Randolph, Texas – Lt. Col. Robert Bowshot assumed command of the 70th Flying Training Squadron, U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado, during a Sept. 13 ceremony officiated by Col. Allen Duckworth, 340th Flying Training Group commander.

Prior to accepting command, Bowshot served as the squadron director of operations.

The 1999 Air Force Academy graduate is a former Air Force civil engineer, and former C-5 Galaxy pilot. Bowshot is a command pilot with more than 3,000 hours in the T-37, T-1A, C-5A/B, TG-10/15/16 and UV-18B.

As the commander, Bowshot leads a cadre of powered flight, soaring, and parachuting instructors, and administrative staff in support of glider, parachute and powered flight training.

Succeeding Bowshot as director of operations is Lt. Col. Amy Lewis.

Relinquishing command was Col. Jason Cashman, who assumed command in December 2016. Cashman, recently promoted to colonel, has transitioned to the traditional Reserve.
