JOINT-BASE SAN ANTONIO-Randolph, Texas -- Lt. Col. Allen Duckworth, 97th Flying Training Squadron commander at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, has been tapped to command the 340th Flying Training Group here.
Duckworth, a command pilot with more than 3,100 flying hours, has 450 combat hours in the A-10 supporting Operations Allied Force, Southern Watch, Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. A traditional Reservist, he is a civilian combat readiness program analyst for the 10th Air Force headquartered at the Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base.
Commissioned through the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1996, the colonel has served in a variety of combat, training and leadership positions stateside and overseas. He has earned the Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Air Medal with seven oak leaf clusters, the Aerial Achievement Medal and the Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster.
He will accept command from 340th FTG deputy commander Col. Janette Thode, interim commander since October. The assumption of command is tentatively slated for February 16.
