Lt. Col. Michael Rose on Feb. 9 assumed command of the 97th Flying Training Squadron, Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas.

A command pilot with more than 3,400 flying hours in the F-16 and T-38, Rose commands 65 Active Guard Reserve, Traditional Reserve and Air Reserve Technician instructor pilots, responsible for participation in the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training program, under the Air Force Reserve Command’s Air Education and Training Command Reserve Associate Instructor Pilot Program.

Rose is the 11th commander of the 97th FTS, following Colonel-select Allen Duckworth, who assumes command of the 340th Flying Training Group here in April.
