WHERE ARE YOU FROM?

I was born on the island of St. Kitts; country of St. Kitts and Nevis. I moved to St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands after high school graduation.

 

DID YOU SERVE IN THE MILITARY?

I served more than 20 years in the Air Force

 

HOW LONG WITH THE 340TH FTG?

Almost seven months; started here July 8, 2018

 

WHAT IS YOUR DUTY TITLE?

HQ Resource Advisor/Budget Analyst

 

WHAT DO YOU DO ON A DAILY BASIS?  

I manage the budget for the 340th HQ. The budget includes funds for AFRC and AETC Operations and Maintenance, active duty training and inactive duty training, IDT lodging, reserve personnel appropriations, centrally managed schools, upgrade training, travel and temporary duties. I approve orders for HQ staff, undergraduate flying training staff and UFT students. I oversee the HQ ARCNet program to ensure members project their duty in advance to ensure they are properly funded. I work with the CSS to reconcile the funding used vs what was projected monthly. I am also the program manager for the 340th FTG Time and Attendance program for ARTs, civilians and ARTs that converted to AGRs.

 

HOW DOES YOUR JOB SUPPORT THE 340TH FTG MISSION?

By ensuring that funding is available on a daily basis for HQ members to perform their duties which in turn ensures we meet the mission of the 340 FTG. Our slogan in Financial Management is, “ The mission drives the money; the money does not drive the mission.”

 

WHAT DO YOU FIND MOST REWARDING ABOUT YOUR WORK AT THE 340TH?

The people and knowing that I make a difference; being able to say yes to my customers and resolve issues, especially if the needs are mission critical and mission essential or it impacts people’s lives.

 

FAMILY? SPOUSE/KIDS?

I come from a family of 12 that included 10 children, nine of which are still living; I am the youngest. My wife, Aliccia and I have been married for more than 35 years; my parents were married for more than 53 years. We have a total of six children in two sets; four adults, Anthony, Akeem, Antionne and Akía; two youths, Andrew and Asa that we are still raising.

 

ANY COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES?

We attend church, plus my wife and I were foster parents for more than 12 years; out of which we adopted two young boys.

 

WHAT IS THE ONE PIECE OF INFORMATION OR ADVICE ABOUT WORKING AT THE 340TH FTG THAT YOU'D PASS ON TO NEW MEMBERS OF THE 340TH FTG TEAM?

Do a lot of listening, ask questions and be patient with yourself and others; before you know it you will feel at home.

 

NAME ONE THING YOU’D LIKE FOLKS TO KNOW ABOUT YOU?

I believe in what my father taught me that respect is important and to be mindful that someone greater than me has more to do with where I am in life than all the time and energy I could ever put forth.
