JOINT-BASE SAN ANTONIO-Randolph, Texas – Master Sgt. Aisha Woods, 340th Flying Training Group Career Advisor, was named the September On-the-Spot Award winner by Col. Allen Duckworth, group commander.

The commander implemented the award to provide immediate and visible recognition for the contributions of exceptional civilian and enlisted headquarters members as those contributions occur. Nominations are submitted through the group senior enlisted council.  In recognition of their excellent performance, award winners are granted the commander’s parking slot for a week.

Senior Master Sgt. Laura Garcia, 340th FTG Military Personnel Section superintendent, said she nominated Woods because she has reached beyond her career advisor duties to help force management staff manage their workload and she took it upon herself to learn how to process critical benefits and entitlements paperwork to sustain the workflow in this vacant MPS position. Senior Master Sgt. Craig Pfister, 340th FTG IG Inspections Superintendent, seconded Garcia’s nomination adding, “Master Sgt. Woods continually looks for new ways to go the ‘extra mile’ to support her work center and all the 340th FTG personnel. Her recent award clearly demonstrates her commitment to the 340th FTG organization and the local community.

Woods was selected as the group’s 2019 National Public Service Awards nominee for her many volunteer\facilitation activities to educate young girls and help them navigate a safe and healthy life-path. A few of the organizations Woods worked with included but were not limited to, the Boys and Girls Club of San Antonio, Girls Empowerment Network, Austin and several San Antonio JROTC high school programs.

Commenting on Woods’ NPSA nomination, Air Force Reserve Command Deputy Commander Maj. Gen. John Flournoy Jr., said, “This award recognized her as one of the most outstanding leaders.”
