On the Spot Award Winner: Master Sgt. Aisha Thomas

JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-RANDOLPH, Texas – Master Sgt. Aisha Thomas, 340th Flying Training Group Career Advisor, has been named the July 2020 On the Spot Award winner.

Candidates are nominated by the senior noncommissioned officer council for the monthly award, which is presented by Col. Michael Vanzo, group commander. The award promotes productivity and provides immediate, visible recognition for exceptional civilian and enlisted contributions, as they occur.

Thomas is being lauded for her wide spanning resiliency efforts within the 340th FTG community, as well as, outside in the local community.

Senior Master Sgt. Craig Pfister, 340th FTG IG Inspections Superintendent, has said of Thomas, “Master Sgt. Thomas continually looks for new ways to go the ‘extra mile’ to support her work center and all the 340th FTG personnel. Her selection as the group’s 2019 National Public Service Awards nominee clearly validates her commitment to the 340th FTG organization and the local community.”

Thomas was selected as the group’s 2019 NPSA nominee for her many volunteer\facilitation activities to educate young girls and help them navigate a safe and healthy life-path. A few of the organizations Woods worked with included but were not limited to, the Boys and Girls Club of San Antonio, Girls Empowerment Network, Austin and several San Antonio JROTC high school programs.

In appreciation for their exceptional performance, every on the spot winner is provided the commander's parking space for the week of their choice.
