JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-RANDOLPH, Texas – Staff Sgt. Jennifer Sheppard, 340th Flying Training Group Commander's Support Staff, has been named the December 2020 On the Spot Award winner.
Candidates are nominated by the senior noncommissioned officer council for the monthly award, which is presented by Col. Michael Vanzo, group commander. The award promotes productivity and provides immediate, visible recognition for exceptional civilian and enlisted contributions, as they occur.
Although engaged in upgrade training, Sheppard was lauded as a positive team member, willingness and initiative. She oversaw and managed the Leave Web program, securing access and permissions and learning the Air Force instruction, to ensure the program is well-maintained.
"The CSS Leave Web requests and/or questions went from 30 per day to less than five a day thanks to her thorough guidance and customer assistance," said teammate Master Sgt. Tyechia McBride.
Sheppard also supported personnel actions, creating evaluation shells and updating the headquarters decorations tracker. In addition, she routinely assists the executive staff with decoration reviews.
"Her attitude and attention to detail are awesome and a huge help to the team," said Vanzo.
In appreciation for exceptional performance, every On the Spot Award winner is provided the commander's parking space for the week of their choice.
