  • COMMENTARY: Let us solemnly remember this Veterans Day

    Originally known as Armistice Day, Nov. 11 commemorates the end of World War I, ceremoniously declared on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month of 1918. In 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed a bill officially establishing the day as Veterans Day.
