• Johnston assumes command of 39th FTS

    Lt. Col. Phillip Johnston assumed command of the 39th Flying Training Squadron from Lt. Col. Thad Reddick on May 3, 2024, during a ceremony held at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas. Col. Amy Lewis, 340th Flying Training Group commander, officiated the change of command ceremony.

  • 180-day civilian hiring restriction reinstated for military retirees

    Military retirees seeking to enter civil service in the Department of Defense now require a waiver if they are within 180 days following their official date of retirement.The new DoD requirement took effect Dec. 23, 2016, as part of the National Defense Authorization Act of fiscal year 2017.
