“I came into this field very fascinated by the ability to diagnose patient conditions with imaging alone,” said U.S. Army Maj. Nicolas Cahanding, Chief of Interventional Radiology, Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas. “One area, a very exciting area that’s relatively new in our field is interventional oncology. So with certain cancers the mainstays of treatment traditionally have been surgery and chemotherapy. In interventional radiology we now have treatments to augment these more traditional treatments.”
