Alaska National Guard
April 12, 2016 | 5:34
Capt John Romspert, an Alaska Air National Guard senior mission controller with the Alaska Rescue Coordination Center, provides an update on the rescue of two stranded skiers. The skiers were dropped off on Bear Glacier by private aircraft April 8, 2016, for a day trip and were stuck for four days due to inclement weather. An HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopter from the 176th Wing's 210th Rescue Squadron, with a Guardian Angel pararescue team onboard from the 212th RQS, landed near the stranded skiers April 12, 2016 and transported them to the nearest hospital to receive medical assessment. Both were reportedly in good condition.
