Earlier this year, Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States each committed to leading a multinational battalion in the eastern part of NATO.
Canada’s Minister of Defence, Harjit Sajjan, talks about why Canada decided to send its soldiers in the context of challenges from Russia and the long-standing commitment of Canada to defending Europe.
Footage also includes shots of Canadian forces deployed in Europe and Afghanistan in recent years.
Teaser: It’s over 6,500 kilometres from Ottawa to Riga, but Canada is sending its forces to protect the small Baltic country.
