Arctic Eagle 2018 Overview
Alaska National Guard
Feb. 24, 2018 | 8:03
Arctic Eagle 2018 tested the integrated capability of homeland response forces in the extreme cold-weather conditions of the Arctic region. Over 1200 Air and Army National Guard forces from around the country joined national, state and local agencies in a scenario-based test of homeland security and emergency response in the Gulf of Valdez February 24, 2018. The goals of Arctic Eagle 2018 were for participating forces to operate in a joint, interagency, intergovernmental and multinational environment; assess ability to conduct sustained operations in arctic conditions, and integrate new and emerging capabilities. They demonstrated preparedness through five field training exercises and a command post exercised designed to focus on hazardous material detection and response, security protection of critical infrastructure, triage, domain awareness patrol, communication and transportation support, and cyber awareness.
