Topic 1 – Change of Command – United States Army Garrison Bavaria welcomes its new commander this week. Col, Adam Boyd took the helm from garrison chief of staff, LTC Gregory Scrivens in a ceremony on Wednesday. Col. Boyd is looking forward to embracing the Bavarian culture.

Topic 2 – Force Protection Exercise – Last weekend systems and procedures in place to keep you and your family safe were tested in the annual force protection exercise. Officials practiced increased gate security, military police patrols, and emergency broadcast capabilities to ensure you have all the information you need in the event of an emergency.

Topic 3 – Fireworks Rules – Summer time means cookouts, swimming and celebrating Independence Day. Fireworks, though, are never authorized on post, and are not authorized off post during this time of year. Check out your community’s MWR page for celebration plans, and leave the fireworks to the pros this year.

Topic 4 – Housing Policies - Permanent change of station moves are especially common in summer months. Make sure you understand the responsibilities and policies on noise control for your new home.

Topic 5 – Free State Centennial – Europe is steeped in rich history, and Bavaria is no exception. This year marks the 100-year anniversary of Bavaria becoming a free state. Read more about the history and celebrations on Bavaria.army.mil.
