More veterans than ever are returning home safely, thanks to medical advances. But what about the wounds we can’t see? It’s estimated that a fifth to a quarter of returning military personnel suffer Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. At this year’s NATO Summit in Wales, the Armed Forces Declaration stressed the importance for nations to take care of their returning troops – but how can mental trauma be treated successfully?
